Maple Hill Montessori Camp Summary and Confirmation

We are looking forward to seeing you this summer!

 

What makes a summer camp experience special and worthwhile?  Of course it should be fun filled and exciting!  However, at our summer camp we believe that it should be much more.  It should be an opportunity for each child to grow, explore, develop new skills, be nurtured and form friendships, all within a caring and safe environment.  This is the world we are committed to providing at Maple Hill Montessori Summer Day Camp.  In doing this, it is our goal to join with parents in creating for their children a childhood that will be full of wonderful “memories that will last a lifetime”.   This is the Maple Hill Montessori Day Camp Difference.

  • Junior Camp – Toddler Programming  17m – 2  and  2-2.5  years

These camps offer toddler appropriate programming and the consistency that your child requires while in this developmental period.  The full time toddler instructors will continue to instruct these programs. The children’s developmental spreadsheets will be maintained to ensure the educational tone of the program is maintained. Creative applications and exploration outdoor gross motor will be emphasised.

8:00-9:00                   Regular drop off – Toileting routine

9:00-10:00                Classroom Montessori curriculum including creative exploration

10:00-10:15              Toileting routine

10:15-11:15              Outside play

11:15-11:30              Toileting routine

11:30-12:00              Hot Lunch (Provided by School)

12:00                          Toileting routine

12:00-2:00                Nap/Quiet Time

2:00-2:15                  Toileting Routine/Snack

2:15-4:00                  Classroom Montessori curriculum including completion of creative exploration

  

  • Outward Bound Camp – Casa 2.5 – 4 years    5 years is optional

These camps offer our regular clients casa appropriate programming with the consistency and academic excellence that your child requires while in this developmental but higher energy period.  The full time casa instructors will continue to run this program, along with assistants in the classroom. The children’s developmental spreadsheets will be maintained to ensure the educational tone of the program is maintained. Creative applications, exploration and outdoor gross motor will be emphasised during the allocated times. These children will be invited to take part in all trips, special events and visitor presentations.

9:00-10:00   Casa classroom Montessori curriculum including explosive creative exploration

11:30-12:00 Hot lunch offered by the school with additional cost of $4.00 which is optional

1:00-2:00       Nap/Quiet Time – Optional or in program for creative exploration

Junior and Outward Bound Camp Descriptions 

 

The goal within these camps is to ensure that our children love being here more in the summer than during their regular school program, which may be difficult. The themes of these camps will maintain continuity between the True Life Adventure Camps and Junior/Outward Bound camps. The weeks that our True Life Adventure Camps are not running we have introduced new themes to maintain interest and allow our children more adventure!

 

July 4-8 Camping:  It’s time to get out into the playground “our woods” for a week of camping out. Put up your tent, build a teepee, and learn how to make a bow and arrow. Lie on the beach and make a sand castle. Then back at camp you can make owe gooey treats to eat in front of the “campfire” while we tell scary stories and play lots of fun games!

July 11-15 Beauty School: Both boys and girls will learn what natural beauty is all about. Start each day off with yoga, Tai Chi, and meditation to music. Learn about the makings of all natural soap, massage cream, and shampoo to use throughout camp. A brisk walk and a quick game of soccer, dodge ball, touch football. Steam your face, give your friend a manicure and pedicure and learn how to gel your hair to look light a rainbow, what is an up do and learn how to do it on your own.

July 18-22 Dinosaur Dig: Did you know that dinosaurs once roamed Maple Hill! You will scour our property and discover the largest bone ever found! You will be so excited you will want to call the newspaper! Collect all of them and build your very own dinosaur. What is it really like to be a dinosaur? Become real dinosaur paint your friend while he paints you, become a dinosaur, and live his life for a day! Build your home, feed you and your family, but stay away from predators!

July 25-29 A Pirate’s Life for Me: Ahoy Matie! Its time to board the ship and set sail for a week that’s full of high seas adventures! Transform our climber into your very own pirate ship! Dress up as the crew, walk the plank because you want to, get wet, stay cool. Then eat a ships feast, and dig or treasure!

August

August 2-5 Hawaiian Luau: Aloha! This week we will learn all about island life in the Pacific! We will be having a “surf” competition right on our beach. Learn how to do some Hawaiian dancing at our own Hawaiian Luau! Enjoy the water slide and wadding pool all week!

August 8-12 Knights and Princesses: Calling all dams and damsels! Build your castle and furnish it. Find a frog is he your prince! Pick out a gown and suit for the Royal Wedding. Prepare for your sword fight, and have the crowd cheer as you are knighted by the king!

August 15-19 Chef Camp: Become a party caterer. Your child will create menus, review recipes, shop for food and create culinary masterpieces. You can enjoy some of their creations during our gallery on Friday.

 

August 22-26 Vet Adventure: Calling all animals lovers! So you want to be a vet!  Learn more about caring for the ones we love…animals. You will care for your own animal for one week, a bunny, a guinea pig, a bird; you decide to become their mom! Go on a safari at the farm! We may even have a special visitor.

August 29 – Sept 2 Maple Hill Rock stars: Your last week of camp is all about music! Make your own instruments, listening and learn to feel the music from all over the world. Train to become a rock star, sing by karaoke, learn to actor then perform for mom and dad. Win an Oscar at weeks end. Then prepare to perform for all your friends when they come back to school the next week! 

True Life Theme Adventure Camp 5-9 years

These camps offer adventure and creative/lifestyle activities for each age group, focusing on both individual and group activities. Each activity will be age appropriate and extensive enough to challenge your child throughout the day and week. Each theme is exact and extensive for the time allowance. The smaller groups will allow for your child to become involved and have direct hands on with each activity. Expect your child to work on an extensive project throughout the week with a final demonstration or project complete for your child to keep and take home.  

Children will be asked to be prepared with their own/lunch (arrangements can be made to purchase the school’s hot lunch)/ snack/proper dress/sun screen/and all required accessories for the day in their backpack.

 

(Trips which are optional for each child will leave at 9:00 a.m. and return 11:30 (morning trip), and 3:30 p.m. for afternoon trips)

All the camps offered will result in happy and comfortable campers who know the schedule but are always enticed by new activities and adventures!  The best thing about our camps is the relationships that are found at the student/instructor level!

What you will to bring with you:

It is our intention to ensure a great week of camp, providing your child with a fantastic memory and newly formed friendships.  In order for them to maximize their level of enjoyment, we recommend the following…

Label everything!

Apply sunscreen prior to arrival

Eat a nutritious breakfast before leaving home

Leave all toys at home

Wear comfortable shoes

Wear a smile and bring lots of energy

  

Our Staff

Maple Hill's summer day camp staff include many of our skilled teaching staff who are highly qualified not only as educators, but as people who understand what children need - in and out of the school year. Our summer day camp team is ready to play with your child, but also to ensure their safety and complete enjoyment of our summer camp programs.

What to bring:

 

If you are presently a client of Maple Hill we will keep your entire child’s supplies throughout the summer, however, add the following supplies if they are not at the school.

o    Sunscreen

o    Bug spray

o    Hat

o    Nutritious lunch (if your child is registered in True Life Adventures)

o    Snacks (morning, afternoon and after care) (if your child is registered in True Life Adventures)

o    Water bottle

o    Bathing suit & beach towel

 

Please note that trips/excursions are subject to change.

 

Regular Drop off times: 8:00 a.m. until 4:15 p.m.

Locations Available: 767 Huronia Road, Barrie or 147 Toronto Street, Barrie

 

Time:  We are open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (If you require additional before care or after care, please contact the office well in advance so this time can be adjusted.)(With a sufficient number we will be able to offer additional extended hours at our Huronia location just let us know for $10.00 per session until 7:00 p.m.).  Each after care session is available at a cost of $7.00 per use, per child.

 

Days: Monday - Friday

 

Payment: As a regular client of Maple Hill your present tuition fee will remain in effect through the summer months or will be established at $40.00 per day. By maintaining your attendance at our school you will not be charged the $150.00 registration fee for your September re-admittance. You may provide weekly payment by the first of each month either with cash or cheque. Monthly post dated cheques dated for the first of each month is available for our present clients. We ask that after care payments be made in advance of service.

You may register for this camp if your child is not a present registrant of Maple Hill for a cost of $40.00 per day. Payment is to be made immediately upon registration by either cash or cheque.

 Our day camp rates are cost-competitive with equivalent high quality summer programs. For the first time this year, we are also offering Maple Hill families a discount on their child’s day camp fees. If you refer one friend who registers for a one week session, your child will receive a 10% discount on one week’s camp costs. If you refer five friends who register, your savings could be as high as 50% discount! Let your friends know and give them the directions to our website www.maplehillmontessori.com.
